What you can — and can't — upload

Syllabi is built for corporate training: SOPs, compliance docs, product manuals, onboarding materials. Our content policy keeps the platform safe and professional for everyone.

Prohibited content

The following content categories are not permitted on Syllabi. Uploads containing this material will be blocked automatically and the attempt will be logged.

Child exploitation Zero tolerance

Any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors. This includes written descriptions, narratives, or instructions. Violations are immediately blocked, logged, and reported to the appropriate authorities. There is no review process — the block is permanent.

Pornographic or sexually explicit material

Pornographic content, graphic sexual descriptions, or material that would not be appropriate in a workplace training environment.

⚗️
Illegal activity instructions

Step-by-step instructions for manufacturing controlled substances, building weapons or explosives, committing fraud, identity theft, or other serious criminal acts. Drug awareness and prevention content is allowed.

Gratuitous graphic violence

Gore, torture instructions, or content whose primary purpose is to depict extreme violence in graphic detail. Safety training (e.g. OSHA hazard procedures) is not affected by this policy.

Hate speech and extremism

Content promoting hatred, discrimination, or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other identity characteristics. This includes extremist manifestos and recruitment material.

Dangerous health or safety misinformation

Fabricated or demonstrably false health and safety claims that could cause physical harm to people who act on them.

What's allowed

Syllabi is designed for professional training content. These are always permitted:

Standard operating procedures & policies

SOPs, HR policies, company handbooks, onboarding guides, process documentation.

✅
Compliance and regulatory frameworks

OSHA, HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, ADA, workplace safety, data privacy — all permitted and supported with built-in compliance templates.

Technical documentation and product manuals

Engineering docs, API references, software guides, product specs, and technical training materials.

✅
Security, fraud awareness, and drug education

Awareness training about cybersecurity threats, fraud prevention, substance abuse programs, and similar educational content.

How enforcement works

Every document upload is automatically screened before course generation begins. The screening runs in two layers: a fast keyword filter followed by AI classification.

⚡ Screening happens at upload time
If your document is blocked, the text is never passed to the course generation engine. Nothing is saved. Borderline documents may be flagged for manual review — the course will be generated but held pending human approval before it can be shared.

False positives & appeals

Our automated systems aren't perfect. If your document was incorrectly blocked — particularly compliance, safety, or awareness training content — reach out and we'll review it manually.

If you believe your document was incorrectly flagged, or to appeal a suspension, email us with the filename and a brief description of the content.
